Diversity Is Key: A story about embracing differences

I’ve been in elementary education the past 20 years. I spent 5 years as a 2nd grade teacher before becoming an elementary school counselor. I wrote my first children’s book entitled Is There An App For That? in 2015. This book was written to address kids who feel like they need to change themselves to fit in. I have won two awards as an author. My book on sportsmanship If Winning Isn’t Everything, Why Do I Hate to Lose? won the National Parent Seal of Approval. My executive function series won the Counselor’s Choice Award.

I married my high school sweetheart, Amber, who is also an elementary school counselor. We have two boys, Braden (age 13) and Blake (age 10). I spend a lot of time coaching my sons’ baseball and basketball teams. I also enjoy vacationing in the mountains and spending time with family and friends.
